EYEGLASS RECYCLING: Please recycle your used eyeglasses and hearing aids in Milwaukie at the Milwaukie Ledding Library 10660 SE 21st St., the Oak Grove Day Care 1900 SE Oak Grove Blvd.
USED CELL PHONES AND EMPTY INK JET AND LAZER JET CARTRIDGES NEEDED: The Milwaukie Lions are collecting old cell phones, ink jet cartridges, and lazer jet cartridges to recycle as a fundraiser for their club. If you have any items to donate, please drop them off at Oak Grove Day Care 1900 SE Oak Grove Blvd. Milwaukie, Or 97267 or call 503-978-8387 and leave a message.

COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR: On April 25, 2009, Sat. from 9 am to 4 pm, the Milwaukie Lions e hosted the Mobile Health Screening Unit for FREE health screenings for vision, hearing, glaucoma, high blood pressure, and diabetes at Lot Whitcomb Elementary School in Milwaukie. 76 people were screened for health issues, 225 health screenings were done. 51 potential health issues were discovered.
EYEGLASS RECYCLING: On April 15, 2009, the Milwaukie Lions hosted an eyeglass sorting party to help sort used eye glasses for the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation. Over 8,000 pairs of eyeglasses were sorted. Many of these eyeglasses will go to other countries to help others.
BOOK-A-RAMA CONTEST: On April 20, 2009, the Milwaukie Lions Club presented a new bicycle to the winner of the Book-A-Rama reading program at Oak Grove Elementary School. Over 500 books were read by the students at Oak Grove Elementary during the contest!!!
MILWAUKIE CLEAN UP DAY: On Sat., April 4, 2009, the Milwaukie Lions participated in the the city of Milwaukie's Clean Up Day. We helped to spruce up the landscape of the downtown Milwaukie area.
MURDER MYSTERY DINNER: the Milwaukie Lions and the New Century Players hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 Approximately $2,000 was raised at the event. The proceeds will be equally by the two non-profit organizations. What a great time of fun and fellowship!!
2008 HOLIDAY FOOD BASKET PROJECT: 700 families received wonderful holiday food baskets with poultry, produce, canned goods, dry goods, bread, and toys. These baskets were delivered in the middle of a snow storm! Over 90 volunteer drivers helped in this huge project.
RUMMAGE SALE SUCCESS: Over $1,500 was raised for our service projects at our Sept. 19 & 20, 2008 sale. A special thanks to those who participated in this successful fundraiser.
The Milwaukie Lions participated in the Oct. 4th, MILWAUKIE CLEAN UP DAY. Milwaukie Lions making our community a better place.
GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Milwauke Lions Club and the Charbonneau Lions Club hosted their 9th annual golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the Charbonneau Golf Course. Over 80 golfers particpated in this great event. Over $5,000 was raised for charity.
WHEEL CHAIR RAMP PROJECT; On 8-2-08, the Milwaukie Lions were represented by Lion Paul Miller on a wheel chair ramp project for a Milwaukie ALS patient. The project is being done by friends and former classmates of the ALS patient, a local church, and the Milwaukie Lions Club.
MILWAUKIE FESTIVAL DAZE PARADE: The Milwaukie Lions participated in the annual Milwaukie Festival Daze Parade on 7-26-08. Paul Scott was a big hit with the children in the parade wearing the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundations Lion Costume. A lot of candy was passed out to children along the parade route. Lion Paul Miller drove a 1930 Model A Ford in the parade. Many Lions marched and held signs sharing with the community about the many service projects and services provided by the Milwaukie Lions Club.
MOBILE SCREENING UNIT: The Milwaukie Lions sponsored the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation's Mobile Health Screening Unit on Wed., July 30, 2008 at the Milwaukie Healing Place (Milwaukie Providence Hospital) from 5 pm to 9 pm. Approximately 50 people received health screenings. Many people were advised of potential health risks. Free health screenings for diabetes, vision, hearing, high blood pressure, chlorestoral, and glaucoma. The hospital is also sponsoring a free sports physicals for children at the event.
CITIZENS OF THE YEAR AWARDS: On 6-2-08, Joe Krumm and Julie Gibson of the North Clackamas School District were awarded the Milwaukie Lions Citizen of the Year Awards. Joe and Julie have been instrumental in the success of our annual holiday food drive, which serves over 500 families each year. Certificates of Appreciaton were also give to the Milwaukie Elks, the Nob Hill Lions Club, the Oak Grove Food Bank, the Oregonians Credit Union, and the Milwaukie Garden Club. Lion Al Scott was presented with the Lion of the Year Award.
FLAGS FOR FIRSTGRADERS: In May of 2008, first graders at Oak Grove Elementary School and Seth Llewelling Elementary School in Milwaukie were given personal flags and flagholders. The students heard a short lesson about our American Flag by Lion Al Scott. Every first grader left with a big smile on their face and an American Flag!!
BOOK-A-RAMA PROGRAM: The Milwaukie Lions are sponsored a Book-A-Rama reading program at Oak Grove Elementary School spring break 2008. Lewelling Elementary School had their Book-a-Rama program during the Christmas break 2007. It was a great success! Hundreds of books were read by the children!!!
LION'S PRIDE AWARD: On 1-21-08, DG Jim Jaggers presented Tom Hammond and Al Scott with the Lion's Pride Award during the District Governors official visitation.
OUR SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP NEEDS: Please bring the following items to our meetings for Seth Llewelling and Oak Grove Elementary School: August and Sept.: School supplies. Thank you helping to support those in need at our schools.
